Self-care & Resilience in Volunteering

Resilience, Change processes

Saturday, 4 July 2026, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Abendakademie Mannheim. Organised by the City of Mannheim’s Department of Democracy and Strategy. Clubs from LU pay the preferential rate of 15 euros instead of 30 euros.

Volunteering is a valuable asset to our community, but it can also be challenging and stressful. This short talk aims to provide you with tools and strategies to support your own health and wellbeing whilst you help others.

As well as a general introduction to the topics of ‘self-care’ and ‘resilience’, the session will include examples and techniques for mindfulness and relaxation. It will highlight ways to live in the here and now and to better cope with the demands of volunteering. Furthermore, prompts for self-reflection will help you to think about your own needs and boundaries. Exchanging ideas with other volunteers may also open up new perspectives.
