Accident and third-party liability insurance for volunteers in Rhineland-Palatinate
Insurance
The state government of Rhineland-Palatinate has taken out a flat-rate accident and third-party liability insurance policy for volunteers. It applies whenever, in the event of a claim, no other insurance covers the volunteers.
Protection against liability for damage caused whilst volunteering
Volunteers working in public voluntary roles, in church organisations, in social welfare, in club sports or in aid and rescue organisations are generally insured either by law or through the organisation they work for. The contracts concluded by the state government are intended in particular for volunteers in small – legally non-independent – initiatives, groups and projects. They protect individual volunteers against damage they themselves may suffer (accident insurance) or cause to others (public liability insurance).
You can find plenty of information on the subject of insurance on the website of the Volunteer and Civic Participation Co-ordination Centre.
