How the equipment hire service works
There is a regional training and equipment hire scheme operating at 13 locations across the country. It offers on-site training, advice and support in testing and using digital tools, as well as the free loan of technical equipment (tablets, video cameras, projectors, laptops and streaming equipment).
In this regard, the state government works in partnership with the ‘Offene Kanäle’ (local community television stations), which are supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate Media Authority. These stations have developed into key media hubs across the state, possess extensive digital expertise and are themselves largely driven by civic engagement.
What equipment can you borrow?
iPads, projectors, laptops, Apple TV, streaming equipment including a laptop, monitor, ATEM Mini Pro video switcher, audio mixing desk, microphones, Stream Deck and all necessary cables.
When can you borrow the equipment?
To be ‘eligible to borrow’, you must attend a training course. You can find the latest dates for the training courses on the Volunteer and Civic Participation Co-ordination Centre’s website.
Can you, for example, borrow just a projector or a laptop?
Yes, all items of equipment can be borrowed individually.
How long can I borrow the equipment for?
Please speak to the contact person at the local lending centre to discuss how long you will need the equipment. 14 days is a reasonable period, but this may vary depending on your needs and the number of requests received by the centres.
