The Dietmar Hopp Foundation gGmbH supports projects in the fields of medicine, education, social welfare and youth sport in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and accepts funding applications from charitable organisations for this purpose.
Funding areas
Medicine
In principle, all areas of medicine are eligible for funding, with a focus on oncology and paediatrics, as well as on projects that promote disease prevention and healthcare. Applications must be submitted to the hospital board, which will forward them to the Dietmar Hopp Foundation gGmbH.
Funding is provided for scientific and research work with a clear link to specific clinical applications. Projects or purchases intended for day-to-day operations are given lower priority. Projects that fall within the scope of basic research and/or are predominantly descriptive will not be funded.
Education
Funding is provided for projects that support the holistic, high-quality education of young people, in particular those of a model nature.
Potential applicants in the field of education: nurseries, schools, colleges, universities and educational institutions or organisations recognised as charitable.
Priority areas: children and young people:
Funding for nurseries and schools for participatory projects aimed at redesigning their outdoor areas to encourage physical activity, in which various groups of people are involved from the ideation stage through to implementation.
Funding for schools in projects that focus on respectful interaction among pupils and a positive school environment (e.g. anti-bullying, prevention, empowerment).
The Dietmar Hopp Foundation gGmbH does not fund projects in the fields of computer science, digital education and media literacy. Applications can, for example, be submitted to the independently operating Hopp Foundation for Computer Literacy & Informatics.
Social
Funding is provided for projects benefiting children and young people, people with special support needs, the seriously ill and older people.
In particular, funding is provided for projects in which intergenerational interaction plays an important role.
Youth sport
